Pin the Candle on the Cupcake
This sweet game is played just like the traditional "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" game, but with a large cupcake image and 14 plush candles for blindfolded players to attach to it. Treat each of your guests to a turn. Award themed party favors to the girls who get their candle closest to the top of the cupcake.
Seat everyone in a circle, and put on the party music CD. To play the game, your guests will pass around the plush cupcake while music plays. When music stops, the player holding the cupcake wins a prize and steps out of the game. Game play continues until everyone has won.
- Construction paper
- Glue and tape
- Slips of paper
- Mixing bowl
- Party music CD
Before the party, create cupcake shapes (12"-15") from colorful construction paper (1 per person), and mark each with a different cupcake-related word on front (sprinkles, frosting, chocolate, strawberry, milk, sugar, yummy, etc.). Write the same words on separate pieces of paper. Then fold, and place in a mixing bowl. At the party, tape the cupcakes on the floor (word side up), forming a circle. Then invite everyone to walk from cupcake to cupcake when the music starts, and go to one when the music stops. Ask someone to draw a slip from the bowl; the player on that word wins a cupcake (Pro-Planner Tip: Put the cupcakes in a themed cupcake box. This will allow your guest to take their prize home, or eat it without making a mess). The winner steps out and helps draw the next slip. (Remove previous slip and cupcake.) Continue playing until everyone has won!
- Party music CD (optional)
This popular activity will have everyone moving and giggling in no time. Be sure to have your camera ready to capture the fun! Have an adult lead the group in a sing-alone to a favorite kids' tune. Encourage everyone to clap and dance along. A good song to begin with is, "If You're Happy and You Know It". You can also put on a children's party music CD and invite everyone to form a human train that moves from room to room, in time to the music.
Number 2 Cookies
- Sugar cookie dough
- Frosting to match party supplies
A platter of "2"-shaped cookies is perfect for the party table. Begin by creating a cookie template: Draw/trace the number "2" onto the cardboard. Cut out the shape and cover it in aluminum foil (to help prevent it from sticking to the cookie dough). Roll out your cookie dough and use your template and a knife to create #2-shaped cookies. Bake according to package directions. Cool, frost and add sprinkles for festive flair!
- Ice cream
- Chocolate, fruit or caramel sauce
To fit your cupcake theme, serve ice cream in decorated paper cupcake wrappers. Drizzle with chocolate, fruit or caramel sauce and top with sprinkles.
- Edible glitter, sprinkles or colored sugar
- Traditional-shaped pretzels
- Chocolate bar
- Colorful gummy worm candies
- Frosted cupcakes
- Waxed paper (for homemade cupcakes, you'll also need a cupcake baking tin and paper cupcake wrappers)
Cupcakes are a must for this party! Bake or buy a bunch and get creative. You can either simply decorate plain cupcakes with colorful sprinkles, or create butterflies made with pretzels and gummy worms! First, you should spread out the glitter or sprinkles on waxed paper. Melt the chocolate bar, on low, in the microwave. Dip pretzels in the melted chocolate, and press them onto the glitter or sprinkles (so they have a pretty coating). Let the pretzels cool on another sheet of waxed paper. Next, Place a gummy worm on top of frosted cupcake, down the center. Add a candy-coated pretzel to each side of the gummy worm, and...tah-dah...it's a butterfly!
- 1 - Pound ground beef
- 1 - Tablespoon of fresh minced garlic
- Salt and pepper (optional)
- 1 - (12 oz.) can of refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
- ¾ - Cup barbeque sauce
- 2 - Cups of shredded cheddar cheese
Preheat your oven to 400ºF. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the garlic until the beef is no longer pink. Drain fat and season with salt and pepper to taste. Add the barbeque sauce and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Next, place one biscuit in each cup of your muffin tin and press the dough firmly onto the bottoms and sides. Spoon an even amount of beef mixture into each biscuit cup. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes. Remove the Barbeque Cups from the oven, and sprinkle the tops with shredded cheddar cheese. Return the Cups to the oven for 1 minute, or until the cheese melts. Remove the pan from the oven and let stand for a minute before serving.
