After the Party
- Chairs (1 less than there are players)
- Party music
Place chairs in a circle; be sure to leave enough space between each chair for walking. Play some upbeat fun party music and have the kids walk around the outside of the circle. When the music stops the players will race to a chair. The player left without a monkey leaves the game. The last player in the game wins a prize.
Pin The Tail on The Monkey
- Brown construction paper
Using the construction paper and markers draw a monkey, if you are uncomfortable with your artistic abilities you can trace a picture or use a poster. Cut stripes of brown construction paper to use as the monkey tails and write the names of the players on the back and place a piece of tape on the tail for sticking. Blindfold the first player and spin them three times and guide them toward the poster. The player or players to get their monkey tail closest to the correct spot wins a prize.
Monkey Freeze Dance
- Party music
- A parent helper to start and stop the music
Designate an area as the dance floor and place the radio in a convenient space in the area. Have all the kids join you on the dance floor, and turn on the party music. Have everyone dance like a silly monkey while the music is playing but when the music stops they should freeze. To help cue smaller children you should say "FREEZE" and demonstrate. The player that moves while the music is stopped is out. The last player left in the game wins a prize.
- Construction paper
- Wooden sticks with round edges
This is the perfect quiet activity great for the beginning or end of the party. Prior to the party set up an activity table with all the supplies and cut out monkey faces. Place a monkey face at each setting. Assist each child with coloring and decorating the masks as they desire, let them get creative with it. Once they are finished tape a wooden stick to back for a great handheld mask perfect as a take home gift or to use throughout the party.
- Popsicle sticks
- Flavored yogurt of your choice
Cut each banana into halves. Place a popsicle stick through one end. Be sure not to push the stick completely through the other end. Empty yogurt into a deep bowl. Hold banana upside-down using the stick and dip into yogurt. Place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper and freeze for 2 hours.
- 1 - Cup of pretzels
- 1 - Cup of plain 'O' cereal
- 1 - Cup of honey flavored 'O' cereal
- 1 - Cup of fruit snacks of your choice
- Large mixing bowl
- Small disposable paper cups
Empty all the ingredients into a large bowl. Mix contents together and serve from the bowl or place into small cups and serve individually. Makes the perfect snack for little monkeys on the go!
- 1 - Box of your favorite cake mix
- 1 - Container of your favorite chocolate frosting and 1 container of vanilla frosting
- Mini chocolate sandwich cookies
- Chocolate chips
- 2 - Icing bags and a round decorating tip
Bake cake as directed on the back of box. Cool cupcakes completely. Frost over the cupcake with the chocolate frosting. Place vanilla frosting into icing bag and in a circular motion mouth. Then fill the other bag with the chocolate frosting and create a mouth either straight line or make a smile and with short strokes create cute hair on the top. Place the 2 mini chocolate sandwich cookies on each side for the ears (they will be hanging slightly over the edge). Use the chocolate chips for the eyes.
Ants On a Log
- Peanut butter
- Raisins or chocolate chips
A simple yet tasty healthy treat! Wash and cut celery into 3 inch sticks. Spread a layer of peanut butter onto each celery stick. Place either raisins or chocolate chips across the peanut butter as the ants. Place on a dish and serve.
